Wow, how to define the author of this blog… I’m the husband of a beautiful, talented woman who doubles as my best friend. I’m the father of two wonderfully inspirational children who mean the world to me.
I’ve spent 15+ years in television, the vast majority of it in the sports media.
I’ve chatted with Tiger Woods as I walked him from one network interview to the next after he won the 1999 PGA Championship at Medinah. I’ve had Brett Favre give me a smile and a wink after he made fun of me at one of his weekly press conferences. I’ve cut a promo with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson before a WWE event.
I’ve covered Super Bowls, World Series, golf majors and NBA/NHL playoffs series. I’ve interviewed countless athletes, seen hundreds of hours of live sports action… I guess, as I’m fond of telling people, “It beats working for a living…”
Oh, and I’m a poker player.
It’s worth mentioning that playing poker was actually the original inspiration for my blog. I’ve played cards for money, well, really my entire life. From nickel-dime sheepshead at family functions… to dealer’s-choice poker games in high school… to dollar-a-point cribbage in college… I’ve always been around it. But it was really only a few years ago that I started taking poker seriously. I created a monday night home game as a social event and for myself (and several others) it was the start of a love affair with the game of hold ‘em. About a year later a friend of mine transferred $25 into my Full Tilt account (previously I had been playing for “play money”) and I’ve been playing ever since.
So I started a blog to chronicle my views on the sports world and my poker exploits online (and live when warranted) but found that most of the people in my life would rather hear about me, my wonderful family and the things happening in our life. So thus the new-and-improved (I hope) World of P2 is born!
Why P2?
I get asked all the time, why “Producer_2?” Actually, I usually get the questions “Why _2? Who’s Producer_1? Have you ever met Producer_5?”
The answer is simple… Obviously the “Producer” part comes from the fact that I’m a television producer, have been my entire post-college life… and the “2″ comes from my first tv station, Channel 2 in Green Bay, WI. For the longest time I was “Producer2″ but somewhere along the line, I added the underscore and there you have it. My online friends often refer to me as “P2″ rather than the longer version… so there you go!
